Medea Greek Mythology Essay Example for Free

Medea Greek Mythology Essay When Medea decides to take matters in to her own hands, about punishing the people who have done wrong to her, she is accused of wanting not justice—vengeance. Because I am not a native of neither Corinth nor Colchis, I have my own view about her motives. However, I would agree with the Corinthian Women, Medea is seeking vengeance; not justice. Some people might argue that Medea is seeking justice. When in actuality, Medea wants vengeance. The opposition would say justice took place because the Gods allowed Medea the time to perform her various acts. Although these things happened Medea turned to vengeance when she took it upon herself to kill Creon and his daughter Creusa. Even the chorus, the â€Å"ideal spectators†, implies that Creon is a poor king when, after he banishes Medea, the First Corinthian Woman sympathizes, â€Å"I am of Corinth and I say that Corinth is not well ruled. †(1. 214-216). This quote gives us proof that Medea has some sort of reason to seek revenge on Creon. However she lets her hatred exceed its boundaries and allows herself to take the lives of the King of Corinth and its Princess all because they chose Jason over her. In addition, her actions all prove that she wants Jason to do more than pay for hurting her. She wants him to suffer at the fate of her own children. Her revenge was selfish. Medea involved the two things she knew would hurt Jason the most—her own children. According to the First Corinthian Woman, â€Å"It would be better for you, Medea if the earth opened her jaws and took you down into darkness. But one thing you will not do, for you cannot, you will not hurt your own children, though wrath like plague-boils aches, your mind in a fire-haze bites the purple apples of pain. No blood-lapping beast of the field, she-bear nor lioness, nor the lean wolf-bitch, hurts her own tender whelps; nor the yellow-eyed, seythe-beaked, and storm shouldered eagle that tears the lambs has ever made prey of the fruit of her own tree. †(2. 115-126). Keep in mind that the Corinthian Women are the conscious of Corinth. Through this quote the First Corinthian Women has stated that Medea could not harm her own children. She even gives examples of the most dangerous predators that don’t even harm their own young. This is evidence that Medea went beyond the state of justice; but she went well into the state of vengeance. Medea knew what she was doing and quite frankly she could care less about anything other than what she thought of what was seeking revenge on Jason. In conclusion, vengeance was sought by Medea. She went above the fact of teaching Jason a lesson; she even stated she hated Jason more than she loved her children. Answer this question is what Medea has done entertaining or morally instructive?

Steven Kerr Essay -- Business, Creativity, Diversity

As Kerr is an educator and a professor in universities and not an economist, he examines his idea or creativity in the organization by making inquires starting from top management to the bottom in the organization and also to people who knew what the buyer or customer should be; then he would run it through his network in and outside GE to cross examination and double check or assessment (Davenport et al). Kerr’s successes effectively with the standing of ideas and creativity mainly rely on his continuing exploratory research with great creative thinking skills, expertise and motivation, and they also depend on his outstanding leadership and exceptional organizational culture of innovation in GE (Davenport et al, 2003). On the issue how to link his idea to his organization or business, Kerr simply collected and gained quick feedback and recommendation about how to present or make use of the idea or creativity to his sixty-five top executives in GE; he would assessed and examined his idea with his top management team first before link it to GE (Davenport et al). Davenport, Prusak & Wilson (2003) analyzed and claimed that getting instant comment or criticism is very critical and vital for a idea, as Kerr in his interview argued: â€Å"Gaining quick feedback and translating it into action and results is what advocating ideas is all about† (p. 207). In strategic planning, management must measure or evaluate the courses of idea and creativity or development and expansion to ensure they obtain the best and maximum returns from platforms (Davenport). In ideas and organizational management, feedback, criticism and suggestion not only could turn or develop into the guidance, objective and dire ction or target and focus of innova... ...resent diversity within the labor force and â€Å"each of them will also have networks of professional associates whose knowledge they can tap in order to solve problems and accomplish tasks. Needless-to-say, diverse people will have diverse networks and provide your company with a vast and diverse meta-network at your disposal† (p.1). In short, in supporting of creativity, innovators essentially need the backing from top leaders, and without that support, many initiatives may break down or die on the vine (Harvard). For any idea to be successful, it is vital that it is aligned with company strategy; there is more likely to occur naturally when top executives involve and take the lead with a idea or creativity initiative and this is a main reason why management commitment is a key factor in the accomplishment of any idea or innovation process (Baumgarther, 2010).

Both Sides of the Coin

As the famous clichà © goes, â€Å"times are changing†, and in order to keep pace with the quick changes that continuously occur, people also change. Their ways of life, adjust to what seems to be the call of necessity. Accompanying this is a change in the culture and what used to be taboos of old have become normal occurrences in the present. One of the taboos, which practice is found to be increasing is cohabitation (Cheal 24). Like many other uncommon practices, the emergence of cohabitation in the culture of a country has both advantages and disadvantages.Cohabitation or living together may be defined as a non-marital union (Brien et. l. ). It has a number of facets. Some see it as an alternative for marriage while others view it as a way of finding assurance for a lasting marriage (â€Å"The Facts behind Cohabitation†). In the 1970’s, studies have found that a number of young adults opted to postpone marriage and decided to cohabit. The increasing number of cohabitation led to a decline in marriages (Cheal 24). The decline in marriage proved to be one of the disadvantages of cohabitation. Since marriage assures the legitimacy of future children, cohabitation may result to more illegitimate children. This may produce children with unstable emotional and educational development as a result of disruptions on their family life (â€Å"The Facts behind Cohabitation†). Another disadvantage is that there is a high probability of incidence of cheating on both parties involved. Because of the non-commitment nature of this kind of union, there is no compelling force that assures fidelity for both partners. There are no rails that may keep both the man and the woman involved faithfully to each other and to the supposed relationship they are into (â€Å"The Facts behind Cohabitation†).A third disadvantage that some couples perceive as an advantage of this kind of set up is that it does not reassure of a lasting marriage at the end of it all. It has been found that couples who live together before actual marriage have unstable unions and commonly end up in divorce. The lack of commitment that the couples have grown into during cohabitation may mean less will to work for the betterment of a relationship, yet more will to end an unsatisfactory relationship (Brien et. al. 2). Despite this, there are still couple who choose cohabitation rather than marriage. Some couples find the disadvantages that were earlier mentioned overshadowed by the advantages they see in this non-marital set-up. In one case, couples who are less financially stable but desires to be together opt for cohabitation as it is cheaper as compared to an actual marriage. The taxes and benefit system require a large amount of money. As such, people whose incomes are low and whose jobs are irregular find it easier to cohabit rather than officially get married (â€Å"The Facts behind Cohabitation†).Another advantage of cohabitation relative to fin ances is the non-commitment nature of the set-up. Since there is no contract that was signed and there are no formal and legal terms that were agreed upon, separation is as easy as getting together. There is no need to file and undergo the gruelling process of divorce especially when the relationship is no longer working. This works well with couples whose money has better things to go to than divorce cases (â€Å"The Facts behind Cohabitation†). To conclude, people who consider it a taboo have reasons to perceive it as such. There are many reasons why for some couples, it is a practice that should not be supported and instead contradicted. On the other hand, it should also be noted that there are also reasons that prove for cohabitation as a better option as compared to actual marriage. People who are pro-cohabitation commonly have personal reasons in opting for this kind of set-up. As such, the issue of cohabitation must not be taken lightly since it may affect the unity of a nation, especially that which uphold a person’s own opinion.

Christianity How And Why Christianity Spread Inu.s Then...

Christianity has been around for thousands of years. It is known for being the largest most well-known religion on our planet today. It has influenced the hearts of millions of people and in a sense made our country that much safer. Without many of the guidelines set in this religion, many are to believe we would live in a much more chaotic society due to the fact much of the United States citizens practice Christianity. My goal in this essay is to give a brief history lesson on the early years of this religion and to share my research on how and why Christianity spread in U.S then and still today. I will approach this topic from 3 different geography themes. In no order, the themes are distribution, migration, and ethnicity. Most people know the story of Jesus Christ but few know that Jesus Christ did not start the religion. It wasn’t until the execution of Jesus people started to practice Christianity. There was a man name Simon Peter who believed Jesus was the messiah and that he was the ruler and king of the world. Peter and the eleven followers of Christ believed to have seen Jesus after his death which lead them to believe Jesus had found a way to surmount death. The people of Israel didn’t know what to believe. Was it true or were these twelve-people delusional? It was the speech of Peter that embarked the beginning of Christianity. â€Å"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
